How LimitX works
The idea
You pick a token and the price you want to buy or sell at. LimitX watches the market and acts when the price gets there. Your tokens stay in your wallet the whole time, and nothing trades without a signature from your wallet.
Getting started
- Open app.limitxapp.com in a browser with a wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby, or in your wallet app's browser on your phone.
- Press Connect wallet, agree to the terms, and sign the sign-in message. Signing in costs nothing and moves no funds.
- Choose what you sell and what you get, set your price, and place the order.
- Your order shows under Open orders while it waits.
Two ways an order fills
Notify me
When the market reaches your price, LimitX tells you (in the app, and on Telegram if you link it). You check the trade and sign it, and it goes through UniswapX or Uniswap. Nothing happens without that final signature, so you're always in control, but you need to be around to sign.
Auto-execute
You sign once, up front, and the order fills by itself when the price is reached, even if you're away. Your signature allows exactly one trade: the amount you set, for at least the amount you set, paid to your own wallet, until it expires. LimitX's contract checks all of that on-chain, and you can cancel any time before it fills. Auto-execute has size limits while it's new; the app shows them.
Ladders
A ladder spreads one decision across several prices: buy in steps as the price falls, sell in steps as it rises, or both. Sells can come from tokens you already hold or from what the ladder's buys bought, and a sell never tries to sell more than the ladder actually bought. Each step shows in your open orders under its ladder, and you can cancel the whole ladder at once.
Fees
- LimitX takes 0.25% of what you receive when an order fills. Nothing if it never fills.
- The trade also pays the pool's own fee and any price impact, as any swap does. The app shows these before you sign.
- Orders through UniswapX are usually gasless. A direct Uniswap swap is sent from your wallet and pays network gas.
Staying safe
- LimitX never asks for your seed phrase or private keys. Anyone who does is not us.
- Read what your wallet shows before you sign. Every signature the app asks for is checked against the order you set, but your wallet's prompt is the final word.
- Tokens are scanned for common risks before you buy. A clean scan doesn't make a token safe: new tokens can lose all their value.
- An order fills only if the market reaches your price, and fast moves can skip past it.
- Only use app.limitxapp.com. Check the address before connecting your wallet.
Cancelling
Open the order and press Cancel order. For an auto-execute order, your wallet then asks you to revoke the signature on-chain (a small gas fee), so it can never be used. You can also do this later from History.
Chains
LimitX is live on Robinhood Chain, with more chains to come.
